How I collect, use and protect your personal information.

This policy explains how Mehrdad Haghjoo Personal Real Estate Corporation ("I", "me") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit this website or work with me as your REALTOR®. I am licensed with Oakwyn Realty Ltd., and I follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

The short version

  • I only collect what I need to help you buy, sell or plan a move.
  • I never sell your personal information.
  • I only email you about listings or market news if you ask me to, and you can stop at any time.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information whenever you like.

What I collect

Information you give me. When you fill in a form, book a call or contact me, I collect what you share, such as your name, email, phone number, the address of a property, what you are looking for and any message you write.

Information when we work together. If you buy or sell with me, I collect the details needed for the transaction, such as contact details, property information and, where the law requires it, government ID to verify your identity under Canada's anti-money-laundering rules (FINTRAC).

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, this site receives basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. This helps keep the site secure and working well.

How I use it

  • To answer your questions and book the calls or meetings you ask for.
  • To prepare a home valuation, search for homes or give you advice.
  • To send listing alerts or updates you have signed up for.
  • To complete a real estate transaction and keep the records the law and my brokerage require.
  • To keep this website secure and make it better.

Emails and your consent

I follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). I only send you marketing emails, such as listing alerts or market updates, with your consent. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, or you can simply reply and ask me to stop.

Who I share it with

I do not sell or rent your personal information. I only share it when it is needed to help you, or when the law requires it:

  • My brokerage, Oakwyn Realty Ltd., which must keep records of real estate transactions.
  • People involved in your purchase or sale, such as lawyers or notaries, mortgage brokers, lenders, inspectors and other agents, with your permission.
  • Service providers that help run this website and my business, such as hosting, email and booking tools. They may only use your information to provide their service to me.
  • Regulators or authorities, such as the BC Financial Services Authority or FINTRAC, when the law requires it.

Third-party content on this site

  • Videos are played from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube may still set cookies once a video plays.
  • Maps load map images from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address to send the map to your browser.
  • Links to Google Maps, Google reviews and social media take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

This site uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are needed for the site to work, for example to keep forms and bookings working and the site secure. Others help me understand how the site is used and reach people who may be interested in my services. These tools collect information such as the pages you visit, how you move through the site, your device and browser, your approximate location and the website that sent you here. They do not give me your name unless you share it with me, for example in a form.

  • Google Analytics measures how visitors use the site, such as which pages are popular and how people find them.
  • Google Tag Manager is used to load and manage these tools. It does not collect personal information on its own.
  • Microsoft Clarity shows how visitors use pages, through heatmaps and recordings of clicks, taps and scrolling. It is set up to hide what you type in forms.
  • Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) measures visits from my ads and lets me show ads to people who have visited this site. Meta may combine this with information it already has about you under its own privacy policy.
  • Google Search Console gives me reports on how the site appears in Google search results. It does not place cookies on your device when you visit this site.

These services are run by Google, Microsoft and Meta, which may process information in the United States or other countries. They have their own privacy policies.

Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work as well. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on, manage ad personalisation in your Google and Meta account settings, and use your browser's "Do Not Track" or tracking protection settings. Opting out does not affect your ability to contact me.

Where it is stored and how it is protected

I take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure connections, limited access and trusted providers. Some of my service providers may store or process information outside BC or Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

How long I keep it

I keep personal information only as long as I need it for the reason it was collected, or as long as the law and my brokerage require, for example for transaction and identity records. After that, it is securely deleted.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or withdraw your consent, subject to legal and contract limits. To make a request, contact me using the details below. If you are not satisfied with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
